Zaiya is the visionary founder of Protecting Peace and a published author, with a passion for STEM, research, and innovation. Her academic journey has been shaped by rigorous coursework, including Advanced Placement classes in Chemistry, Literature & Composition, and Calculus BC, which have strengthened her analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Beyond academics, I am deeply committed to making a positive impact in my community.
As the founder of Protecting Peace, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls through literacy, comprehension, self-acceptance, and self-advocacy, I have designed programs and initiatives that nurture confidence and growth. My dedication to literacy and education extends to my work as Reading and Comprehension Chair for Grace 4 Race, where I organized book drives and learning programs to support underserved students. I also launched the Senior Polo Recycling Program at my school, diverting over 100 pounds of fabric from landfills this year alone and promoting sustainability through hands-on action.
On campus, I embrace leadership and collaboration in multiple roles. I participate in athletics as a Varsity Cheerleader and manage the finances for the Solar Car team, overseeing budgets and payment disbursement. I also serve as a Link Crew Peer Mentor, guiding new students through their transition to high school, and as a delegate for the Student Diversity Leadership Conference, advocating for inclusion.
My professional and extracurricular experiences extend into communications and technology. I gained marketing and event coordination experience as a Junior Intern at Amagine Technologies, and I have contributed as a Newsletter Editor for Sustainable and Just Future, curating content focused on sustainability, equity, and community engagement.
